Presented a workshop with my husband, Andrew Burke, at the New York State Association for Computers and Technologies in Education (NYSCATE) Conference. This workshop focused on the Maker mindset, skills, Maker models, examples of Making activities, and how to incorporate Making into existing lesson plans of several different disciplines. Title: Maker Education Across the Curriculum

Presented a roundtable with my husband, Andrew Burke, at the Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education (SITE) Conference.  This discussion surrounded how to incorporate Making into all disciplines.

 Presented workshops at Boot Camp all years.
Co-facilitated, planned, and ran this three-day professional development workshop offered to all district faculty and staff 2017-present
Ran workshops on Makerspaces, Emerging Technologies, SAMR
Ran the 3D printer for all attendees to see and inquire about and handed out 3D printed foxes as prizes

Ran Paper Circuits Maker event at Mt. Kisco Elementary's Spring Fest
Ran two separate sessions: Kindergarten through 2nd grade and 3rd through 5th grade
Students learned how to make paper circuits with construction paper, copper tape, LEDs, and batteries.

 

Co-planned and ran high school's first ever Maker event
Met with key administrators and other colleagues to plan and execute a Maker event.
Met with interested students

Co-developed high school's ThinkSpace/Makerspace
Ran regular meetings to discuss how to manage the space
Assisted in acquiring funding for Makerspace materials

SERVICE

Assisted with Ed Tech Family Fun in the lobby of the student union.  The Educational Technology Leadership students and their professors shared robots, drones, and e-textiles activities with guests.

Assisted with Robotics presentation by Dr. Zieger with other NJCU EdTech cohort members.
I specifically showed attendees Ozobots and their applications to STEM and many other disciplines.
Event Description:
Connect with other NJ makers to network, discuss ideas, share successes and failures and potentially incubate collaborative projects and initiatives around the idea of making and social responsibility- serving a public good on either the local, statewide or potentially even national level. Agenda will include a keynote speaker, unconference sessions, and roundtable discussions with the context of meeting community needs.

Assisted with E-Textiles workshop with Dr. Shamburg and other NJCU EdTech cohort members.
Workshop Description:
E-Textiles are the merging of electronics and fashion.  Clothing designers, hobbyists, and engineers have discovered the creative possibilities of this new field.  Get a hands-on introduction using cloth, conductive thread, a power supply,  and an LED. 
 

Work with colleagues to discuss the use of technology throughout the district
Advise the Director of Technology on future decisions and have a voice in technology planning
